Asian Cup 2015: The way to Australia starts this Wednesday (News)

The first opponent of Thailand on the way to the Asian Cup in Australia 2015 is Kuwait. On Wednesday, both sides will meet in an official competitive match for the first time since more than a decade.

Beside Lebanon with German coach Theo Bucker at the helm, Iran as favorites to win the group, Kuwait and Thailand are battling for a ticket to the Asian Cup 2015 in Group B. In Thailand's opening game Winfried Schafer's team welcomes Kuwait, which currently ranks 120 in FIFA's World Ranking, this Wednesday at the Rajamangala Stadium. With both separated by just six places in the Asian ranking it should become a tie at eye level. With the knowledge about the away weakness of the Thais, above all in appearances in the West-Asian area, it surely is an extremely crucial match. But that's what opening games are mostly associated with anyway.

The 42nd edition of the King's Cup takes place in Chiang Mai from 23 to 26 January with slightly different rules than we have seen in recent years. Beside the home side, Sweden, Finland and North Korea to compete in the traditional tournament.

The "King's Cup" to honour his Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej counts as one of the eldest tournament throughout Asia held since 1968. Only three times, in 1983, 2008 and 2011, the competition did not take place. 2012 champion South Korea, which could win the cup one year ago against a Denmark XI will not be able to defend its title. Beside Thailand as host, the national sides of Sweden, Finland and North Korea is invited for the 42nd issue.

Introduced last week Monday, since the 25 October available in stores. The new jerseys of the Thai national teams supplied by Grand Sport. We introduce the new working clothes to you and what you need to know about.

Usually when it comes to introducing a new national team kit, a big stage is set, there is a big fuss about and mainly the senior footballing team is lunching it to public. However, owned by the short time which remained for Grand Sport  facing the forthcoming Futsal World Cup, this was not an option here. Although there was an official press conference, it was on to the Futsal national team to present it first.

AFF Suzuki Cup: Schafer calls up 35 men initial squad (News)

At the end of the Thai Premier League season 2012, preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup begins for Winfried Schafer and his national team. At least almost.

Not all players Schafer has appointed in his temporary 35 strong squad is really completely available to him from 1 November in Chiang Mai. The FA Cup final on 4 November as well as the League Cup final on 11 November fall right into preparation time with all players of the involved clubs are released from camp for the Finals of course. Same is valid, in the against all odds case, Chonburi makes it to the final of the AFC Cup in a fortnight. Definitively affected of it are the nominated players of Ratchaburi FC and Buriram United. The latter possibly could even appear in both finals.

Asian Cup: Stony middle eastern road to Australia 2015 (News)

On Tuesday, most of the eyes of Asian football fans were directed to "Down Under". There, in Melbourne, the draw for the preliminary round to the AFC Asian Cup 2015, Asias flagship tournament for national teams, took place. At the same time the official competition logo was revealed (pictured on the right).

It was not all that long ago that Thailand squandered his chances to advance to the last qualifying round of the World Cup 2014, by losing 0-2 to Oman on the very last day of the second qualification round. It happened on the evening of the 28 February this year. Just one year later in February 2013, it will be on Winfried Schafer and his boys to take on the next adventure and hopefully this time the mission can be completed in success.
