Topic: Thai Association News
In about 4 weeks time the tournament of the 16th Asian Games will be kicked off. Today group draw was held in Guangzhou, China. While the boys were drawn into an easy group, the Ladies, will face the toughest challenge you can get.

Thailand to bid for the 2026 World Cup? (News)
Topic: Thai Association News

Just fantasy?
idea by thai-fussball.de

In a few weeks time the host for the World Cups in 2018 and 2022 will be announced. From then on, we will have to wait nine years until the host for the 2026 World Cup will be unveiled. What all this has to do with Thailand? Not that much normally. As Thailand so far never qualified for the final tournament. For ages now Thailand has a strong desire being part of a World Cup tournament or even more to host it.

Recently those dreams got some new fuel. A few weeks ago there was a meeting organized by the senate to discuss a possible bid to host the WC in 2026. FAT president Wurawi Makudi attended the meeting. He said the government must give its full support and has a "master plan" if Thailand is to win the right to host the World Cup. He added there are about 10 places which could be World Cup venues.

Futsal World Cup 2012 - Venues inspected by FIFA (News)

Impact Arena

As we already reported, Thailand will host the 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup. A few FIFA representatives recently visited Bangkok and had a closer look on the proposed venues. Overall they were very pleased.

The inspectors were quite pleased with the venues but they want a bigger venue for the main stadium. The Impact arena, close to the Yamaha Stadium, was proposed to be the main venue of the tournament. However the inspectors believed it is more suitable for concerts than futsal matches. As mostly all matches should be played in Bangkok, this may force Thailand to build a new indoor stadium or renovate one of the existing ones. It is required that the main stadium is able to host between ten to fifteen thousand spectators. We like to remark here, that during the past World Cups, no more than 8.000 people had found their way to a single game. The average attendance during the 2008 World Cup in Brazil was 5.200 per game.
