When Thailand and Singapore to meet on this Wednesday and Saturday, this is not only simply a final. It is more. It is about whom is the real powerhouse in the region, who will be the first to win his fourth title and it will be a last hurray for a great striker and coach.

Up to now both teams have only met on four occasions during the course of a ASEAN Championship. With the last meeting in the final in 2007 it came to two memorable matches. The first leg took place in the old national stadium of  Singapore, in front of, would you believe 55,000 spectators, and resulted in 2-1 win for the hosting side. The memorable of the game: 82 minutes played and Singapore got a penalty kick which definitely wasn't one.

It's a wrap! For the first time after 2008 Thailand made it to the final of the ASEAN Championship. With a good, superb and dominant display, Thailand eliminated defending champion Malaysia.

With the final whistle of the of the game a bold and bright 2-0 gleamed of the scoreboard in a full Supachalasai, and Teerasil Dangda and Theeraton Bunmathan were the heroes of the evening. All in all a well earned win, with no doubt. Provided that one was either neutrally, or with the Thais. The Malaysian fans could not really enjoy a gala display of theirs Eleven and "rushed" over the official from South Korea, Lee Min-Hu. In the 44th minute he was sending Fadhli Shas off the pitch after a second yellow.

We are just few hours away from the second leg of the 2012 Suzuki Cup semi final between Thailand and Malaysia. From a sporting point of view there are less news to report ahead of the tie. Though a "paddy field" and crackers have kept fans and officials busy.

After the 1-1 draw in the first leg on last Sunday it is now all or nothing for both and which side will join Singapore in the final of the 2012 Suzuki Cup. Will it be Thailand making it to the final for the first time after 2008 or will it be Malaysia with the chance to retain the title? We will know by Thursday, after either 90 or 120 minutes. Or even after a penalty shoot-out. With an away goal in hand, the home team is having a slight advantage and there should be enough support from the fans as well with a sold out Suphachalasai Stadium.

Looking at it afterwards, the first leg of the semi final between Thailand and Malaysia, would have been worth to be the final of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012. It was a game which nearly offered everything football has to offer, and it was a pure advertisement for the football from the region.

85,000 fans provided a goose bump atmosphere for the first game between both sides in a sold out Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur. Shortly before the match it started to rain heavily, and the on field conditions could not really keep up with. However in front of such a scenery, Thailand's motto could just be: No fear. Do not show any signs of being favorably impressed.

Obviously rested, contently and without bigger problems the Thai national team arrived on Friday at Kuala Lumpur. There, defending Suzuki Cup Champion Malaysia waits on Sunday for the first leg of a two-legged tie.

A day before taking on the trip to the town of the Petronas Towers, Thailands national team and stuff had the honor to sign the well-wishing book for His Majesty the King and the Queen at Siriraj hospital. Yet the day before, at the birthday of His Majesty 85fth Birthday, Thai coach Winfried Schafer regretted his team is not wearing yellow shirts, but assured it wouldn't be necessary. Because the respect for His Majesty comes from the bottom of the heart.
