Thai Premier League 2012 fixtures are online

News Thai Premier League
The Thai League Season 2011 went to the books of history just a few weeks ago. However, the new 2012 season of the Thai Premier League cast it's shadow. The new season is due to kick-off on 17/18 March 2012 and a first draw of the coming season schedule is already available.

Only few days after the end of the previous season the draw for 2012 took place on 31 January in Bangkok and was done for TPL and Division One. With pleasure we would have put the schedule online in a very contemporary way. But, there were still some lacks of clarity about the participant teams. Now as things are cleared mostly we are glad to be able to present to you the fixture list on our website. Compared to the previous two years, in a new, more fancy and structured layout.

Besides promoted and relegated teams, there are still some other changes. The fixture list we do have on hand is just a first draft and hence we would like to go in details explaining a few things.

If you take a first sight on the Thai Premier League and the Thai Premier League Division One schedule, you quickly will recognize that the appointments are still summarized in a block, based on weekends or rounds. This, of course is going to change, after all ties are fixed. Moreover we only have put the first leg online. Until the second leg is going to be kicked, a lot of things can happen as we learned over recent years. In 2010 we had the "red shirts" and last year the disastrous flood. Finally, a season without special incidents would be desirable.

Promoted teams to the TPL are a BB-CU FC, Chainat and Buriram FC. You find latter one under Wuachaon United, the Fighting Bulls. As everybody knows, the license was sold by Buriram FC to Songkhla. As Songkhla's president tried to shortcut the league, the TPL put a stop here and with Wuanchaon United and Songkhla he will have to lead two clubs. First home matches of Wuachaon are played in Buriram with certainty. However, according to our inside information the club will move the south after few weeks.

The national champion of the years 2009 and 2010, Muang Thong United is called SCG Muang Thong United with the new season. But, we leave the name without SCG. Sisaket FC is to become Isan or Esan United with 2012. Most likely the side will not play in Sisaket any more, and move to Ubon Ratchathani. See our article about the backgrounds. Meanwhile promoted side BB-CU is on the search for a new home ground in or around Bangkok.

As a rule, all league matches should begin at 18:00. However, midweek fixtures sometimes could take place later. This might be between 19:00 and 20:00 in most of the cases. Kick-off times are depending on the quality of the floodlight. The only club from last season who had to kick the ball early afternoon was Thai Port FC. Finally, though the club from Klong Toei wants to improve the stadium light. If this is not going to happen, it remains with a 16:00 ball game.

In the second division there will be only a few afternoons kicks. All four newbie, Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), Krabi, Phattlung and Ratchaburi should have no problems with the floodlight. Though still no firm statement can be made yet regarding kickoff times. At the moment the league is still checking all venues concerning suitability and of course the light. Hence, please take all the ball times with a pinch of salt for the moment.

As soon as a "fixed" schedule is given, surely we are going to update all ties accordingly.
