2010 Toyota League Cup final is to on the verge to see it's rematch next month. Defending Champion Thai port FC secured a spot in the 2011 final this week while Buriram-PEA could follow next week.

In the first semi-final of the 2011 Toyota League Cup, titleholder Thai Port FC faced Regional League side Phattalung FC. Latter fought their way into the semis by beating Roi Et, Trang and Phuket. The 1st leg of a two legged tie between Thai Port and Phattalung resulted in a 3-0 win for the Thai Premier League side from Bangkok and left Phattalung with just a minor chance to advance to the final. Even though the underdog on his part managed to win the 2nd leg by 1-0 , it was not enough to spring a surprise.

Nevertheless, Phattalung can be proud of what they achieved by reaching the semis, as it marks the biggest success in the still young history of the club (founded in 2009). Besides, the third Division side finished second in the league last weekend and qualified for the play-offs.

Thai Port on his part proved once more that they are some kind of a typical "cup team" with wining the Thai FA Cup in 2009, the League Cup in 2010 and reaching the final for the second consecutive time. Not to mention all the other cup titles the club lifted in the past. After average results in the league, losing coach Sasom Pobprasert and some key players to Buriram FC, another final to play could be balm for the soul for Thai Port fans.

The second finalist still needs to be determined as just one leg is been played so far. Buriram-PEA, finalist 2010, welcomed injury hit Chonburi FC midweek and Frank Achempong scored the only goal of the night in injury time (90'+4). Visiting side Chonburi had to be without captain Pipob On-Mo who is still recovering from a collision with Muang Thong United Keeper Kawin last weekend. The return match is going to take place on 1 October, just a few days after Chonburi's AFC Cup quarter final tie with Nazaf Qarshi on 27 September.

The Toyota League Cup final is scheduled for the 15 October at Suphachalasai Stadium and the game will be televised by Channel 3.
